Evaluation

The of strengths of the video was that it had all the camera work required and was edited well. The weaknesses however were that the video was filmed in portrait in stead of landscape and at one point changed to landscape and then back to portrait, this could have been avoided if we had used a film camera as it would be much hard to film portrait with a film camera.
The skills that were developed was shot reverse shot, match on action and 180° degree rule. The skills that need to be develpod more was to film landscape instead of portrait and to improve are acting skills more.

Final Preliminary Task

180 Degree Rule

The 180 degree rule is a basic film editing guideline that states that two characters (or other elements)in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other.

Shot Reverse Shot

Shot Reverse shot is a technique where a character is looking at another character (often not on screen) the other character is shown facing the same direction as the person making the viewer assume that they are facing each other.

Match on Action

Match on action or cutting on action is an editing technique where the editor takes a shot and cuts from one shot to another view that matches the action from the first shot. To keep continuity for the scene.(e.g man walking up and knocking on the door)

Video Preliminary Task

Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot reverse shot and 180°degree rule. The preliminary task will help me with my main task by getting me to recognise the three techniques better and to implement them into my footage and course work.
